Putting it Together for Work

Putting 2 and 2 together…

statement neck with nautical stripeI spoke with a good friend the other day who is a working Mom of 3.  She’s always been successful in the work-place, is loving and hard-working, but still struggles like the rest of us to find the work/life balance, and beat her insecurities on a daily bases.
If fashion isn’t your natural go-to, how do you feel great and look great while juggling everything else?
Well, I’m here to help.  Let’s take baby steps, budget our sheckles (as my hubby would say), and find little ways in our busy days to portray outwardly the awesomeness that lives inwardly!

Tips for a busy season:

Whenever possible, lay out your look the night before. For work, it’s ok to have a “go-to” look. Are you most comfortable in pants or a skirt?  Blouse or camy or button up?  Color or neutral?

Ok, with just those few things in place, you can build a great wardrobe in a cost effective way.

If you are a neutral/pants/cami gal, try a chunky gold necklace with a little color or sparkle.
A bright yet simple purse can be your statment piece that never gets old.  Your shoes can match your necklace, your top, or be radically different!

Try a pattern on the bottom for interest, and a solid top that won’t distract from your gorgeous face!  Think, “what do I want someone to focus on when I speak, my accessories, or my words?

Pick a simple necklace – long or short – to sweeten the deal and match some simple stud earrings to pull it all together. Match your shoes to the top, or keep them neutral.
Don’t forget the hair!  Keep it simple, but intentional, (motto for life!), for work.  blazer and pant cute proYou don’t want it to distract you, or clients, from what you’re working on!

Bonus: If you may go after-hours, throw a cute hair piece, or some bolder bracelets or necklace in your bag that you can toss on quickly to spice things up. peacock feather real good layout

When you’re out on the town, it’s alright to attract a little extra attention! I write about such a night in, “Sell Yourself with a Smile”
