Green Juice for St. Patricks Day!

Ladies,

Instead of “treating” ourselves to something we’re going to have to work-off tomorrow, what if we actually treat our bodies to something that works FOR us, today?

St Patricks Green Juice
Barefoot and juicing, that’s how I roll.

Yes, I’ve handed in my beer cup and sworn off the Jägermeister for several years now, but being healthy doesn’t just mean abstaining from what’s bad…it means adding what’s good! I’m trying to be more intentional about filling my body with what it needs first, then if I’m still craving something, I can indulge a little bit, knowing that my body already has some great nutrition to keep it going.  Without further ado, for the sake of the Irish, here is today’s…

Delicious Detox and Immune-Boosting brew!

Makes 1 8oz glass from Omega cold-press juicer.  Make sure your ingredients are washed, and organic!

St Patricks Green Juice Ingredients w light frame

  • 1 stalk celery (this is the most detoxifying)

  • 1 large green apple (or 2 small, these have less sugar than other apples)
  • 5 strawberries (or vitamin C rich fruit of your choice)
  • 2 fist-fulls of green spinach (or more!)
  • 1/4 inch disk of ginger root (or as much as you can handle! this helps all the other nutrients digest and play nice together)
  • 1/2 cup clean water (run through the juicer and into your glass at the end to get out every last nutrient!)

A few quick tips – I put the spinach in first, so that the little leaves get mixed with everything else and have the most time to juice.  I usually add the apple in last, it seems to help push everything else through.  You don’t want to put all these delicious things into your juicer, and have much left-over in the grinder afterwards.

As you can see from the pic, there was very little waste, almost all made it into the juice!  Happy drinking friends, cheers to a healthy, happy you!
